 10:39 AM, the alarm clock showed. That wasn't good. With a groan Shane Millership rolled out from under his duvet. He was still in the shirt and jeans he had been wearing the night before, when at 2am, he had crawled under the sheets having spent the evening putting the finishing touches on a closing chapter for the novel he was writing. Shane was delighted with the way things were going. He was content with life at the moment. Even he had doubted his decision to pursue a career in creative writing, but now it looked as if it was finally going to pay off. Alexander Swann sipped a glass of elderflower and read a copy of The Telegraph. It was past midnight but Alex couldn't sleep. He rarely could sleep.
